GAME OF THE DATE
Game 162 2018 - Padres 4 Diamondbacks 3 (10 innings)
My son and I attend the season finale, collecting some great memories, and broke our streak of 5 consecutive losses in games we attended.
Heading into the 9th, tied at 2, Kirby Yates, in the dreaded closer in a non-save situation, gave up a run on a sacrifice fly to Socrates Brito. The Padres tied it up in the bottom of the 9th with consective singles by Franmil Reyes, Hunter Renfroe and finally Eric Hosmer. Austin Hedges would ground into an inning ending double play.
In the bottom of the 10th, Manuel Margot would triple, then score on a swinging strike that catcher John Murphy couldn't hold on to, then throwing down to first, tossed the ball into right field allowing Margot to waltz in for a season ending victory.
The Padres finish the season at 66-96, 25 games back of the Dodgers, finishing last.
