Steve Arlin loses his no-hit bid with two out in the ninth when Philadelphia’s Denny Doyle gets a bad-hop single over the head of drawn-in third baseman Dave Roberts. The Padres win 5–1 at San Diego Stadium. Arlin’s bid is the since-equalled longest no-hit bid in Padres history. Arlin allows a run on two hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

2006

Traded Brian Sikorski to the Cleveland Indians. Received Mike Adams.
  • P Sikorski, signed as a free agent on December 22, 2005, appeared in 13 games during the 2006 season, posting a 1-1 record with a 5.65 ERA.
  • P Adams would go on to appear in 209 games over 4 seasons, posting a 9-5 record with a 1.66 ERA, including 1 save. Traded to the Texas Rangers on July 31, 2011.
