Lone Padre representative Cito Gaston went 0 for 2, with a walk.
Undeniably, the most remembered moment of the game was the final run, scored in the bottom of the twelfth by Pete Rose. The ball was relayed to the American League catcher, Ray Fosse, in time to tag Rose out, but the tenacious Rose bowled Fosse over. Both players were injured, Fosse enough to drop the ball, giving Rose credit for the game-winning run.

Traded Drew Pomeranz to the Boston Red Sox. Received Anderson Espinoza (minors).
- P Pomeranz, acquired from the A's via a trade on December 2, 2015, made 17 starts in 2016, posting a 8-7 record with a 2.47 ERA. Signed as a free agent in November 2019 and currently on the 40 man roster.
