This Date In Padres Baseball - April 21

THIS DATE IN PADRE BASEBALL

1998 SEASON

PADRES LOSE AT WRIGLEY

Cubs 5 Padres 3

Perhaps 2 days off in a row is a bad thing!

The Padres got on the board in the first, with Wally Joyner driving home Quilvio Veras, and the Friar Faithful thought they were at it again.

Kevin Brown (2-1) took his first loss of the year, unable to get into the 4th, allowing 3 runs in 3 innings and Steve Traschel kept the Padres bats at bay.

Wally Joyner drove in another run in the 5th scoring Steve Finley, bringing the Padres within 2, 4-2.

The Padres last run came on a Chris Gomez single, scoring Greg Vaughn, in the 8th.

News and Notes - Brown's 3 innings was his lowest total since May 7, 1996. Brown said "That extra day a rest was not helpful for me, never has been. I want the ball every 5th day."
