This Date In Padre Baseball - April 13

THIS DATE IN PADRE BASEBALL

1998 SEASON

PADRES WIN!
PADRES 1 DIAMONDBACKS 0

Padres (11-2) sweep the Diamondbacks on the back of Andy Asbhy's (2-1) 4-hit shutout.

Archi Cianfrocco is the offensive hero, blasting his first home run of the season to left in the 5th inning for the only run Ashby would need. Lone singles by Andy Sheets and Tony Gwynn were all the baserunners the Padres would muster all day as Brian Anderson (1-2) was equally tough on the Friars.

The Diamonbacks would mount threats in the 1st and the 6th, putting men on the corners with 2 outs, but Ashby wouldn't be giving anything up today.

GAME OF THE DATE!
Game 7 1986 Padres 7 Reds 6

Handing Goose Gossage (1-0) a one run lead after mounting a 3 run comeback in the 7th inning. Home runs by Marvell Wynne and Kevin McReynolds pulled the Padres in front, 6-5.

In the 9th, Kal Daniels led off the inning with a game tying home run, giving Gossage his first blown save of the season.

But Marvell Wynne's second home run of the night leading off the bottom of the 9th would send the Friar faithful home happy!

This was the start of the 1986 Padres longest winning streak of the season, a whopping 4 games (tied 3 other times.) This first streak was special, as all 4 games were walk off winners
- longest win streak 4 games, sad, but all walk offs
