Sterling Hitchcock struck out 9, allowing only 5 hits in a complete game shutout. He was supported by offense from 2 unexpected spots in the lineup.

Already leading by 2, the first surprise of the day was a 2-run home run from Chris Gomez in the 3rd inning, just his 3rd home run of the season. 

In the 8th inning, after a walk to Sterling Hitchcock, Quilvio Veras hit his 4th home run of the season, allowing Hitchcock to jog home, saving his energy for the 9th to complete his complete game shutout.
