Looking gassed, Bochy had Hamilton issue an intentional walk to reload the bases for Brian Jordan.
Bochy called on Brian Boehringer to stem the bleeding. He did not. back-to-back single scored 2 more each time, exploding the score to 6-0.
McGwire would get that home run, #26 of the season in the 9th to extend the Cardinal lead to 8-0. Ken Caminiti would single home Finley, then himself score on Greg Vaughn's 17th home run to avoid the shut out.
