This Date In Padres Baseball - May 15

THIS DATE IN PADRES BASEBALL

1998 SEASON
PADRES HOLD ON FOR VICTORY

PADRES 7 PHILLIES 6

Down 4-3 in the 7th, the Padres, once again rallied to victory at the Q. The hero, again, Greg Vaughn, with a 3 run HR deep into the left-center stands, to great roars from the 25, 157 Friar faithful.

Up 6-4 the ball was left in the hands of Brian Boehringer (5-1) who couldn't close out the 8th, allowing a run to edge the Phillies closer before Bruce Bochy called on Trevor Hoffman to get 4 outs.

Hoffman closed out the 8th, and was rewarded with a RBI triple by James Mouton for what turned out to be a much needed insurance run. Doug Glanville would hit a triple and score on a Gregg Jeffries single before getting the last two outs to secure the win and his 12th save.

News and Notes -  Ken Caminiti had a set back in his rehab, and is looking at another 2 weeks before coming back to the team.
