Purchased Aurelio Monteagudo from the Kansas City Royals.

• P Monteagudo did not appear at any level before being returned to the Kansas City Royals on April 5.

1976

Drafted Bob Shirley in the 1st round (8th pick) of the 1976 amateur draft (January Secondary).

• P Shirley would go on to make his MLB debut as a Padre on April 10, 1977. Appeared in 197 games (92 starts) over 4 seasons, posting a 39-57 record with a 3.58 ERA including 10 complete games, 1 shut out, and 12 saves. Traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in December 1980.
