Signed Jerry Royster as a free agent.

• IF Royster would go on to appear in 208 games over 2 seasons, hitting .269 with 10 HR and 57 RBI. Granted free agency in October 1986.

Drafted (P) Steve Wapnick in the 2nd round of the 1985 amateur draft (January), but did not sign the player.

Drafted Jim Lewis in the 5th round of the 1985 amateur draft (January).

• P Lewis would go on to make his MLB debut as a Padre on August 9, 1991. Appeared in 12 games during the 1991 season, posting no record with a 4.15 ERA. Traded to the Baltimore Orioles in February 1992.
