Drafted Doug Brocail in the 1st round (12th pick) of the 1986 amateur draft (January). Player signed May 16, 1986.

• P Brocail would go on to make his MLB debut as a Padre on September 8, 1992. Traded to Houston Astros in December 1994. Returned as a free agent from 2006-2007. Overall , appeared in 131 games (27 starts) over 5 seasons, posting a 11-16 record with a 4.32 ERA.

Drafted John Patterson in the 3rd round of the 1986 amateur draft (January), but did not sign the player.

• 2B Patterson would be drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 1988.

Drafted Warren Newson in the 4th round of the 1986 amateur draft (January). Player signed May 12, 1986.

• OF Newson would only appear at the minor league levels before being traded to the Chicago White Sox in March 1991.

Drafted Bob Ayrault in the 9th round of the 1986 amateur draft (January), but did not sign the player.

• P Ayrault would be purchased by the Philadelphia Phillies from Reno in July 1989.
