• 2B/3B Perlozzo, signed as a free agent in April 1979, appeared in 2 games during the 1979 season, going hitless in 2 at bats.

Signed Phil Stephenson as a free agent.

• 1B/LF Stephenson re-signs with the Padres after being acquired from the Chicago Cubs via trade in September 1989. Appeared in 177 games over 4 seasons, hitting .206 with 6 HR and 29 RBI. Released in October in 1992.

1997

Signed Tim Scott as a free agent.

• P Scott re-signs with the Padres after making his MLB debut as a Padre on June 25, 1981. Traded to the Montreal Expos in June 1993. Overall, appeared in 74 games over 4 seasons, posting a 7-2 record with a 4.66 ERA.

Signed Deivi Cruz as a free agent.

• SS/2B Cruz would go on to appear in 152 games during the 2002 season, hitting .263 with 7 HR and 47 RBI. Granted free agency in October 2002.
