1973

Drafted Dave Wehrmeister in the 1st round (3rd pick) of the 1973 amateur draft (January). 

• P Wehrmeister would go on to make his MLB debut as a Padre on April 16, 1976. Appeared in 41 games (10 starts) over 3 seasons, posting a 2-7 record with a 6.35 ERA. Traded to the New York Yankees in June 1979.

Drafted Mike Dupree in the 4th round of the 1973 amateur draft (January).

• P Dupree would go on to make his MLB debut as a Padre on April 13, 1976. Appeared in 12 games during the 1976 season, posting no record with a 9.19 ERA.

1978

Drafted Mike Martin in the 1st round (6th pick) of the 1978 amateur draft (January Secondary).

• C Martin would appear only at the minor league levels, reaching AAA Las Vegas in 1984. Granted free agency in October 1984.

Drafted Ed Vande Berg in the 3rd round of the 1978 amateur draft (January), but did not sign the player.

• P Vande Berg would be drafted by the Seattle Mariners in June 1980.

1994

Signed Bip Roberts as a free agent.

• IF Roberts returns to the Padres for 2 more seasons, before be traded to the Kansas City Royals in December 1995. Overall, appeared in 667 games over 7 seasons including 20 HR and 169 RBI.
