• P Silva, signed as a free agent in February 2009, made his MLB debut as a Padre on April 8, 2009. Made 6 starts during the 2009 season, posting a 0-2 record with a 8.76 ERA.

Traded Kevin Kouzmanoff and Eric Sogard to the Oakland Athletics. Received Aaron Cunningham and Scott Hairston.

• 3B Kouzmanoff, acquired from the Cleveland Indians in November 2006, appeared in 440 games over 3 seasons, hitting .263 with 59 HR and 246 RBI.
