Traded Nikco Riesgo to the New York Mets. Received Craig Repoz.

• RF Riesgo, selected by the Padres in the 8th round of the 1988 draft, appeared only at the minor league levels, rising to A level Charleston in 1989.
• 3B/SS Repoz would appear only at AA level Wichita in 1990 and retire after the season.

1996

Signed Craig Shipley as a free agent.

• IF Shipley returns after a year in Houston. Granted free agency in November 1997. Overall appeared in 371 games over 6 seasons, hitting .281 with 15 HR and 91 RBI.
