Signed Steve Reed as a free agent.

• P Reed would go on to appear in 40 games during the 2002 season, posting a 2-4 record with a 1.98 ERA including 1 save. Traded to the New York Mets in July 2002.

2006

Signed Jon Adkins as a free agent.

• P Adkins would go on to appear in 55 games during the 2006 season, posting a 2-1 record with a 3.98 ERA. Traded to the New York Mets in November 2006.

2014

Signed Xavier Nady as a free agent.

• RF/1B Nady returns to the Padres after originally being a 2nd round draft pick of the Padres in 2000. Played 22 games during the 2014 season before being granted free agency in May 2014. Overall appeared in 291 games over 5 seasons, hitting .257 with 28 HR and 95 RBI.
