Traded Mike Allen to the Houston Astros. Received Paul Siebert.

• P Allen, selected by the Padres in the 2nd round of the 1972 draft, appeared only at the minor league levels. Promoted to AA Amarillo by 1976.
• P Siebert would go on to appear in 4 games during the 1977 season posting no record and a 2.45 ERA. Traded to the New York Mets in June 1977.

1978

Traded Dave Tomlin and $125,000 to the Texas Rangers. Received Gaylord Perry.

• P Tomlin, acquired from the Cincinnati Reds via trade in November 1973, appeared in 239 games (1 start) over 4 seasons, posting a 10-7 record with a 3.28 ERA including 6 saves.
