Signed Richie Lewis as a free agent.

• P Lewis did not appear at any level before being traded to the Detroit Tigers in March 1996.

2002

Signed Ron Gant as a free agent.

• OF Gant would go on to appear in 102 games during the 2002 season, hitting .262 with 18 HR and 59 RBI. Granted free agency in October 2002.

2003

Signed Ernesto Frieri as an amateur free agent.

• P Frieri would go on to make his MLB debut as a Padre on September 26, 2009. Appeared in 105 over 4 seasons, posting a 3-3 record with a 2.33 ERA. Traded to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in May 2012.

2005

Signed Miguel Asencio as a free agent.

• P Asencio would go on to appear only at the minor league levels during the 2005 season. Released in June 2005.

2010

Signed Jerry Hairston as a free agent.

• UTL Hairston would go on to appear in 119 games during the 2010 season, hitting .244 with 10 HR and 50 RBI. Granted free agency in November 2010.

2011

Signed Gregg Zaun as a free agent.

• C Zaun would not appear at any level before retiring in March 2011.

Signed Barry Enright as a free agent.

• P Enright would go on to appear only at the minor league levels before being purchased by the Colorado Rockies in May 2017.
