Transactions of December 7



1979

Purchased Aurelio Rodriguez from the Detroit Tigers for $200,000.
  • 3B Rodriguez would go on to appear in 89 games during the 1980 season, hitting .200 with 2 HR and 13 RBI. Purchased by the New York Yankees in August 1980.
1981

Jose Moreno drafted by the California Angels in the 1981 rule 5 draft.
  • OF/2B Moreno, acquired from the New York Mets via trade in December 1980, appeared in 34 games during the 1981 season, hitting .229 with 6 RBI.
1983

As part of a 3-team trade, traded Gary Lucas to the Montreal Expos. Received Al Newman from the Montreal Expos and Fritzie Connally, Craig Lefferts and Carmelo Martinez from the Chicago Cubs. In addition, the Montreal Expos sent Scott Sanderson to the Chicago Cubs.
  • P Lucas, selected by the Padres in the 19th round of the 1976 draft, made his MLB debut as a Padre on April 16, 1980. Appeared in 230 games (18 starts) over 4 seasons, posting a 18-33 record with a 2.90 ERA including 49 saves.

Dave Eiland granted Free Agency.
  • P Eiland, signed as a free agent in January 1992, and would re-sign in February 1993. Overall, he appeared in 17 games (16 starts) over 2 seasons, posting a 0-5 record with a 5.38 ERA. Granted free agency in May 1993.
The New York Mets sent Raul Casanova to the San Diego Padres to complete the trade of October 26th.
  • C Casanova would appear only at the minor league levels and be traded to the Detroit Tigers in March 1996.

  • 2B/3B Howard would not appear at any level and be released in February 1995.

2011

Traded a player to be named later to the Colorado Rockies. Received Huston Street and cash. 
  • P Street would go on to appear in 131 games over 3 seasons, posting a 5-6 record with a 2.03 ERA including 80 saves. Selected to the 2012 & 2014 All-Star Game. Traded to the Los Angeles Angels Of Anaheim in July 2014.
