1974

The San Diego Padres sent Danny Breeden to the St. Louis Cardinals to complete the trade of November 18th.

• C Breeden, purchased from the Chicago Cubs in March 1973, appeared only at AAA Hawaii.

1977

Released Gary Sutherland.

• IF Sutherland, signed as a free agent in April 1977, appeared in 80 games during the 1977 season, hitting .243 with 1 HR and 11 RBI.

1980

The San Diego Padres sent Bob Geren to the St. Louis Cardinals to complete the trade of December 8th.

• C Geren, selected by the Padres in the 1st round of the 1979 draft, would return as a free agent in December 1992. Appeared in 58 games during the 1993 season, hitting .214 with 3 HR and 6 RBI.

1981

Traded a player to be named later, Steve Mura and Ozzie Smith to the St. Louis Cardinals. Received a player to be named later, Sixto Lezcano and Garry Templeton. 

• P Mura, selected by the Padres in the 2nd round of the 1976 draft, made his MLB debut as a Padre on September 5, 1978. Appeared in 103 games (52 starts) over 4 seasons, posting a 17-27 record with a 3.94 ERA including 5 complete games, 1 shut out, and 4 saves.

1985

Drafted Bip Roberts from the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1985 rule 5 draft.

• UTL Roberts would make his MLB debut as a Padre on April 7, 1986. Would go on to appear in 667 games over 7 seasons, hitting .298 with 20 HR and 169 RBI. Traded to the Cincinnati Reds in December 1991. Returned as a free agent in December 1994 and traded to the Kansas City Royals in December 1995.

• P Seminara, selected from the New York Yankees in the 1990 rule 5 draft, made his MLB debut on June 2, 1992. Appeared in 37 games (25 starts) over 2 seasons, posting a 12-7 record with a 3.93 ERA.
• OF Curtis would go on to appear only at the minor league levels, rising to AAA Las Vegas in 1994. Released after the 1996 season.

Signed Ernie Young as a free agent.

• CF Young would go on to appear only at AAA Portland in 2001. Granted free agency in October 2001.

2002

Signed Jaret Wright as a free agent.

• P Wright would go on to appear in 39 games during the 2003 season, posting a 1-5 record with a 8.37 ERA including 2 saves. Selected off waivers by the Atlanta Braves in August 2003.

2003

Signed Joey Hamilton as a free agent.

• P Hamilton returns for one last attempt to regain his form after surgery, but only pitches at AAA Portland and is released in July 2004. Overall, he appeared in 146 games (142 starts) over 5 seasons, posting a 55-44 record with a 3.83 ERA including 7 complete games and 4 shut outs. Finished 5th in the 1994 Rookie of the Year voting.
