1973

Traded Steve Simpson to the New York Mets. Received Jim McAndrew.
  • P Simpson, selected in the 4th round of the 1970 draft, made his MLB debut as a Padre on September 10, 1972. Appeared in 9 games during the 1972 season, posting a 0-2 record with a 4.76 ERA. 
  • P McAndrew would go on to appear in 15 games (5 starts) during the 1974 season, posting a 1-4 record with a 5.62 ERA including 1 complete game. Released in June 1974.
1985

Luis DeLeon granted Free Agency.
  • P DeLeon, acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals via trade in February 1982, appeared in 185 games over 4 seasons, posting a 17-16 record with a 3.06 ERA including 31 saves.

Phil Stephenson granted Free Agency.
  • 1B/LF Stephenson, acquired from the Chicago Cubs via trade in September 1989, appeared in 177 games over 4 seasons, hitting .206 with 6 HR and 29 RBI.
2002

Signed Charles Nagy as a free agent.
  • P Nagy would go on to appear in 5 games during the 2003 season, posting a 0-2 record with a 4.38 ERA. Released in June 2003.

Wil Nieves selected by the Anaheim Angels off waivers.
  • C Nieves, selected in the 47th round of the 1995 draft, made his MLB debut as a Padre on July 21, 2002. Appeared in 28 games during the 2002 season, hitting .181 with 3 RBI. Returned for 6 games in 2014 to bring his Padre career totals to .165 with 1 HR and 7 RBI.
2004

Signed Danny Patterson as a free agent.
  • P Patterson would go on to appear only at AAA Portland during the 2005 season. Granted free agency in October 2005.

Traded David Pauley, Jay Payton, Ramon Vazquez and cash to the Boston Red Sox. Received Dave Roberts.
  • P Pauley, selected in the 8th round of the 2001 draft, appeared only at the minor league levels, rising to A level Lake Elsinore in 2004.
  • OF Payton, signed as a free agent in January 2004, appeared in 143 games during the 2004 season, hitting .260 with 8 HR and 55 RBI.
  • IF Vazquez, acquired from the Seattle Mariners via trade in December 2001, appeared in 296 games over 3 seasons, hitting .264 with 6 HR and 75 RBI.

Signed Marcus Giles as a free agent.
  • 2B Giles would go on to appear in 116 games during the 2007 season, hitting .229 with 4 HR and 39 RBI. Released in October 2007.

Selected Craig Stansberry off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
  • 2B Stansberry would make his MLB debut as a Padre on August 25, 2007, and would appear in 24 games over 3 seasons, hitting .333 with 3 RBI.
2010

Signed Orlando Hudson as a free agent.
  • 2B Hudson would go on to appear in 154 games over 2 seasons, hitting .238 with 8 HR and 54 RBI. Released in May 2012.
2016

Signed Jhoulys Chacin as a free agent.
  • P Chacin would go on to make 32 starts during the 2017 season, posting a 13-10 record with a 3.89 ERA. Granted free agency in November 2017.

Signed Clayton Richard as a free agent.
  • P Richard returns for 3 more seasons after playing with the Padres from 2009-2013. Traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in December 2018. Appeared in 178 games (175 starts) over 8 seasons, posting a 58-68 record with a 4.37 ERA including 4 complete games and 3 shut outs.
