1980

Signed Ozzie Guillen as an amateur free agent.

• SS Guillen would only appear at the minor league levels before being traded to the Chicago White Sox in December 1984.

1992

Traded Mike Maddux to the New York Mets. Received Mike Freitas and Roger Mason.

• P Maddux, signed as a free agent in March 1991, appeared in 114 games (2 starts) over 2 seasons, posting a 9-4 record with a 2.42 ERA including 10 saves.

• P Freitas would go on to appear only at the minor league levels. Rising to AAA Las Vegas in 1996. Released after the 1996 season.
• P Mason would appear in 34 games during the 1993 season, posting a 0-7 record with a 3.24 ERA. Traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in July 1993.

1993

Signed Kevin Elster as a free agent.

• SS Elster would not appear at any level and be released in March 1994.

Signed Eddie Williams as a free agent.

• 1B/3B Williams returns to the Padres after leaving in 1990. Released in September 1998. Appeared in 177 games over 4 seasons, hitting .279 with 26 HR and 96 RBI.

2009

Signed Chris Stewart as a free agent.

• C Stewart would appear in 2 games during the 2010 season, as a defensive replacement in both games and not get an at bat. Granted free agency in October 2010

2010

Traded Cole Figueroa, Brandon Gomes, Cesar Ramos and Adam Russell to the Tampa Bay Rays. Received Jason Bartlett.

• 2B/3B Figueroa, selected by the Padres in 6th round of the 2008 draft, appeared only at the minor league levels, rising to A level Lake Elsinore.
• P Gomes, selected by the Padres in 17th round of the 2007 draft, appeared only at the minor league levels, rising to AA San Antonio.
• P Ramos, selected in the 1st round of the 2005 draft, making his MLB debut as a Padre on September 16, 2009. Appeared in 19 games (2 starts) over 2 seasons, posting a 0-2 record with a 6.26 ERA.
• P Russell, acquired from the Chicago White Sox via trade in July 2009, appeared in 27 games over 2 seasons, posting a 3-1 record with a 3.86 ERA.
• SS Bartlett, originally selected by the Padres in the 13th round of the 2001 draft and later traded to the Minnesota Twins in June 2001, would go on to appear in 168 games over 2 seasons, hitting .231 with 2 HR and 44 RBI. Released in August 2012.

2011

Traded Mat Latos to the Cincinnati Reds. Received Yonder Alonso, Brad Boxberger, Yasmani Grandal and Edinson Volquez.

• P Latos, selected by the Padres in 11th round of the 2006 draft, made his MLB debut as a Padre on July 19, 2009. Made 72 starts over 3 seasons, posting a 27-29 record with a 3.37 ERA including 1 complete game shut out.
