Transactions of December 11



1971

Traded Ronald Drake  and Jose Arcia to the Minnesota Twins. Received Jerry Schlegelmilch.
  • C/3B Drake, selected by the Padres in the 18th round of the 1968 draft, appeared only at the minor league levels, rising to AAA Hawaii in 1971.
  • 2B/SS Arcia, selected from the Chicago Cubs as the 9th pick of the 1968 expansion draft, appeared in 234 games over 2 seasons, hitting .218 with 27 RBI.
  • 1B Schlegelmilch would not appear at any level, retiring before the start of the 1972 season.
1975

Traded Larry Hardy and Joe McIntosh to the Houston Astros. Received Doug Rader.
  • P Hardy, selected in the 23rd round of the 1970, made his MLB debut as a Padre on April 28, 1974. Appeared in 79 games (1 start) over 2 seasons, posting a 9-4 record with a 4.92 ERA including 2 saves.
  • P McIntosh, selected in the 13th round of the 1973 draft, made his MLB debut as a Padre on April 5, 1974. Appeared in 47 games (33 starts) over 2 seasons, posting a 8-19 record with a 3.68 ERA including 4 complete games and 1 shut out.

  • IF Ging, selected by the Padres in the 24th round of the 1985 draft, appeared only in the minor leagues, rising to A level Reno in 1986.
  • LF McReynolds, selected in the 1st round of the 1981 draft, made his MLB debut as a Padre on June 2, 1983. Appeared in 496 games over 4 seasons, hitting .263 with 65 HR and 260 RBI. Finished 17th in the 1984 MVP voting.

  • P Rosenberg, acquired from the Chicago White Sox via trade in March 1991, appeared in 10 games during the 1991 season, posting a 1-1 record with a 6.94 ERA.
  • IF Gardner would go on to appear in 155 games over 2 seasons, hitting .255 with 1 HR and 24 RBI. Released in January 1994.
1995

Signed Rob Deer as a free agent.
  • RF/1B Deer would go on to appear in 25 games during the 1996 season, hitting .180 with 4 HR and 9 RBI. Granted free agency in October 1996.
2000

Drafted Donaldo Mendez from the Houston Astros in the 2000 rule 5 draft.
  • SS Mendez would make his MLB debut as a Padre on April 5, 2001, and go on to appear in 72 games over 2 seasons, hitting .183 with 3 HR and 14 RBI. Released in December 2003.

Drafted Jason Pearson from the Cincinnati Reds in the 2000 minor league draft.
  • P Pearson would make his MLB debut as a Padre on June 4, 2002, and go on to appear in a total of 2 games during the 2002 season, posting no record and a 0.00 ERA. Selected by the San Francisco Giants off waivers in June 2002.

Traded Donne Wall to the New York Mets. Received Bubba Trammell.
  • P Wall, acquired from the Detroit Tigers in November 1997, appeared in 145 games (1 start) over 3 seasons, posting a 17-10 record with a 2.92 ERA including 2 saves.
