1998 SEASON
WORLD SERIES GAME FOUR - YANKEES 3 PADRES 0 (YANKEES WIN 4-0)
The Dream Season ends for the San Diego Padres in a 3-0 loss to the Yankees at the Q. With Kevin Brown taking the hill, the Friar Faithful were hopeful that the Padres would one and try to send the series back to NYC. I was one of them, hoping to see my beloved Padres in Yankee Stadium, the proud holder to a ticket to Game 6.
But the Damn Yankees had other plans - Andy Petite matched zeroes with Kevin Brown for 5 innings before the Yankees broke through for a run in the 6th on a groundout fielder's choice by Bernie Williams.
In the 8th, the Yankees loaded the bases for eventual MVP Scott Brosius, who would single home Derek Jeter to make it a 2-0 lead. Ricky Ledee would hit a sacrifice fly to extend the score to the eventual final of 3-0.
