1984 WORLD SERIES GAME 4 - TIGERS 4 PADRES 2 (DETROIT LEADS SERIES 3-1)
Jack Morris pitches a complete game, and once again the Padre starter was going before the 3rd inning was complete. This time it was Eric Show we got peppered for 4 runs, allowing 2 home runs.
Terry Kennedy connected for a home run against Morris in the second inning to cut the lead to 2-1, but another 2 run inning in the 3rd by the Tigers chased Show from the game.
The Padres mounted a small challenge in the 9th, with Steve Garvey doubling with one out. He advanced to third on a fielders choice, then would score on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 4-2. Kennedy would lineout to right to end the game.

- 2B/3B Giovanola would go on to appear in 148 games over 2 seasons, hitting .218 with 1 HR and 12 RBI. Granted free agency after the 1999 season.
2005
Released Manny Alexander.
- IF Alexander, acquired from the Texas Rangers via trade on August 31, appeared in 10 games during the 2005 season. He would sign as a free agent in November with the Padres and appear in 22 games during the 2006 season for a career total of 32 games over 2 seasons, hitting .154 with 4 RBI. Traded to the Washington Nationals in 2007.
2009
Luis Rodriguez granted Free Agency.
- IF Rodriguez, acquired from the Minnesota Twins via waivers in 2007, appeared in 157 games over 2 seasons, hitting .244 with 2 HR and 28 RBI.
