Released Matt Howard.

• 2B/3B Howard did not appear at any level after signing as a free agent in December 1994.

2000

Signed Ed Sprague as a free agent.

• 1B/3B Sprague would go on to appear in 73 games during the 2000 season, hitting .261 with 10 HR and 27 RBI. Traded to the Boston Red Sox in June, he would return as a free agent in August. Released in March 2001.

2003

Signed Keith Lockhart as a free agent.

• 2B/3B Lockhart would go on to appear in 62 games during the 2003 season, hitting .242 with 3 HR and 8 RBI. Released in September 2003.

2005

Signed Scott Mullen as a free agent.

• P Mullen would not appear at any level and be released in March.

2006

Signed Mike Piazza as a free agent.

• C Piazza would go on to appear in 126 games during the 2006 season, hitting .283 with 22 HR and 68 RBI. Granted free agency in October.

Released Todd Greene.

Mike Ekstrom selected by the Tampa Bay Rays off waivers.
