Signed Dickie Thon as a free agent.

• IF Thon would go on to appear in 95 games during the 1988 season, hitting .264 with 1 HR and 18 RBI. Purchased by the Philadelphia Phillies in January 1989.

2010

Signed Greg Burke as a free agent.

• P Burke re-signs with the Padres, but would only appear at AAA Portland during the 2010 season. Originally signed as an amateur free agent in March 2006 and made his MLB debut as a Padre on May 16, 2009. Appeared in 48 games during the 2009 season, posting a 3-3 record with a 4.14 ERA. Granted free agency in November.

Signed Justin De Fratus as a free agent.

• P De Fratus would not appear at any level in 2017 before being released in March.

Signed Hung-Chih Kuo as a free agent.
