Pat Clements granted Free Agency.

• P Clements, originally acquired from the New York Yankees via trade in October 1988, re-signs with the Padres. Appeared in 71 games (1 start) over 4 seasons, posting a 7-2 record with a 3.60 ERA. Selected off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles in July 1992.

1991

Derek Lilliquist selected by the Cleveland Indians off waivers.

• P Lilliquist, acquired from the Atlanta Braves via trade in July 1990. Appeared in 22 games (9 starts) over 2 seasons, posting a 3-5 record with a 5.18 ERA including 1 complete game shutout.

Signed Domingo Guzman as a free agent.

• P Guzman would appear only at AAA Portland during the 2001 season. Signed as free agent in June 1993 and made his MLB debut as a Padre on September 9, 1999. Appeared in 8 games over 2 seasons, posting a 0-1 record with a 19.50 ERA. Released after the 2001 season.

• P Vargas would make his MLB debut as a Padre on April 23, 2016. Made 7 starts during the 2016 season, posting a 0-3 record with a 5.03 ERA. Granted free agency in November 2017.

• C Pinto would not play at any level before being selected off waivers by the Milwaukee Brewers in December 2015.

Traded Colten Brewer to the Boston Red Sox. Received Esteban Quiroz (minors).

• P Brewer, signed as a free agent in November 2017, made his MLB debut as a Padre on April 12, 2018. Appeared in 11 games during the 2018 season, posting a 1-0 record with a 5.59 ERA.
• IF Quiroz would appear at AAA El Paso during the 2019 season, then be released.

Traded Walker Lockett to the Cleveland Indians. Received Ignacio Feliz (minors).
