Signed Rick Wise as a free agent.

• P Wise would go on to appear in 46 games (45 starts) over 3 seasons, posting a 10-16 record with a 3.75 ERA including 1 complete game. Released in April 1982.

1991

Released John Costello.

• P Costello, acquired from the Montreal Expos via trade in November 1990, appeared in 27 games during the 1991 season, posting a 1-0 record with a 3.09 ERA.

1997

Traded Trey Beamon and Tim Worrell to the Detroit Tigers. Received Ryan Balfe (minors), Dan Miceli and Donne Wall.

• OF Beamon, acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates via trade in March, appeared in 43 games during the 1997 season, hitting .277 with 7 RBI.
